Curriculum

Pre Primary Curriculum (Nursery, LKG,UKG )

The Pre Primary Curriculum has been professionally designed and gives the teacher a comprehensive look at the scope and sequence of subjects such as English, Math and Environmental Science in addition to dance, drama, music, yoga and sports. The school focuses on the understanding of concepts and uses hands on activities, games, experiments, worksheets, field trips, power point presentations, puzzles and a number of interesting outdoor activities to make concepts clear to each and every child.

Primary Curriculum (I – V )

The school basically follows a CBSE syllabus, which includes project-based assignments, library and internet based research, hands on activities, assignments that foster creative expression and syllabus based assessments. The timetable includes academics as well as computer science, sports, dance, drama, music, fine arts, library, fitness and yoga.

Remedial classes are undertaken in case a child needs improvement in any subject. An atmosphere of understanding, warmth and openness, help children to forge an affectionate bond with their teachers.

Secondary Curriculum (VI – X)

At FIS, children continue to learn through games and activities even in the senior classes. In addition, they put together 'student-made' worksheets, have group discussions, do projects, prepare power point presentations and often work across disciplines. [For instance, they may write a poem about the different kinds of teeth that we have or dramatize an incident in history or express their views on the French Revolution through painting.] Children are encouraged to be independent, responsible and self disciplined. The school also ensures that academic competition consists of each child comparing their scores to their own previous scores and trying to better them each time.

Additional Facilities:

  1. The school also has a counsellor who conducts workshops for the senior children and discusses concerns with them.
  2. There is an orientation programme for all new parents normally held on the first Saturday in June
  3. We have an optimum class strength of 30 students per section
  4. Students from Classes V-X have the opportunity to be a part of a Club [At present, we have the Literary Club, the Quiz Club, the Math Club, the Science Club and the Gardening Club]
  5. Classes VII & VIII are part of the CMCA [the Children's Movement for Civic Awareness] where they learn to be good citizens and to care for their environment.
  6. The school also has a Life Skills Programme in place.
  7. A full time trained nursing officer is available on the premises to attend to the children.
