Social Studies

Have you always felt that Social Studies is all about pages and pages of dates and facts?

Well, how about learning it by excavating through an archaeological kit, taking a ride on a safari, taking a peep into the past at the ‘flash back’ corner and getting a feel of the realms of the past by listening to historical stories?

That’s what we do at the FIS Social Studies Lab. safari and puzzles like ‘time line’ as well as jigsaws to solve. Our children get a feel of the past by learning how to make replicas of antique seals and coins, scriptures, antique tools and jewellery. They make models and replicas of artefacts and form their own historical museum. They also take part actively in debates and discussions that make them adept at tackling day to day problems.

As someone once aptly said, ‘In a world that demands independent and co-operative problem solving to address complex social, economic, ethical and personal concerns, social studies is as basic for survival as reading, writing and computing.’
